In November this year, Surrey County Councils Data Centres were selected as finalist in the DataCenterDynamics EMEA awards for 2016.
The DatacenterDynamics EMEA Awards are part of a world-wide series dedicated to recognising excellence in outstanding individuals, teams and projects for the design and operation of the full range of data centre and cloud infrastructure that keeps the global digital economy and communications up and running.
In this complex and competitive market, there can be few greater accolades than to receive one of these international awards through the rigorous judging of an independent panel of industry experts and as a shortlisted finalist, we have been recognised for our exceptional performance and contribution to the data centre industry.
There were 15 categories this year, all hotly contested with entries coming in from Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, The United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Ireland, Turkey, the UK and many more.
Surrey County Council was selected as finalists in the largest category for Enterprise Data Centre beating off competition from over 40 companies including some of the biggest names in the industry such as VIRTUS Data Centers, Equinix, Digital Realty, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, CenturyLink, Schneider Electric and Interxion.
On December 7th, nearly seven hundred of the data centre industries finest assembled for a gala dinner at the Park Lane Hilton Hotel in London to mark the 10th anniversary of the awards and they were the first to hear the winning line up for the 15 categories.
I am pleased to say that we were chosen as the winning entry for our category and I was extremely proud to be there to accept the award on behalf of my team and Surrey County Council. We were the only UK finalist and the first public sector organisation to win this award.
These awards are a platform where companies can recognise the passion and innovation which is pushing the industry forward and we know that it is our people, through their imagination and pioneering spirit, who are the true foundations upon which the strength of our organisation is built.
This award recognises the exceptional hard work and dedication put in by our team and business partners over the last year to provide such an award winning service to our customers.
